Squirrel vs Bird
I'm in a really good mood this morning and am not entirely sure why. Playing a bunch of karaoke games last night before bed might have had something to do with it. Have a relatively stress-free day at work probably helped. I'm on track to complete everything I was hoping to complete today. It's a good day. I ran across two very cute animal-related events this morning:
As I was approaching a parking lot that I walk through, I noticed a black bird trying to get at something that a squirrel was eating. The bird tried to stealthily approach the squirrel from behind to get at the stuff (acorn? nuts of some kind?), but always ended up too scared to follow through and would back off. As I got closer, the bird got a bit more daring (probably wanting to avoid me) and got very close to the squirrel, but the squirrel gave no ground. When I was about three feet away, the squirrel scampered off, leaving most of the stuff behind. The bird, though, took a big hop and landed on the other side of the stuff...leaving it to feast as I walked away.
As I approached the high school, I noticed a strange pattern at the base of a tree. It turns out that there was a squirrel facing forward and standing as still as a statue. It was trying to blend in so that I wouldn't notice it! Once it realized that I was on to its game, it got a surprised look and climbed the tree.
