At The Movies With Joe - X-Files

I just got done watching X-Files: I Want To Believe. That kind of sums up how I feel about it. I want to believe it's a good movie, but it was really disappointing and kind of boring. To start off, the case was barely X-Files worthy. It could have maybe been an off-episode of Fringe, mostly because I could see part of it fitting in with The Pattern. Another thing I didn't like was that it seemed more like an episode of House than X-Files at some points. But I really did like the fact that they respected Scully as an actual doctor for once. The movie started off very slowly and ended kind of blah. The middle got kind of intriguing though. WTF was with the boat near the end of the credits? Was that Mulder and Scully getting away together? Was it some sort of fanservice I'm not aware of (possibly like the cast and crew photos throughout the credits)? I was hoping for it to add a bit more to the movie, but I missed any meaning it might have had.

Why did the abductor have to be foreign and gay? I mean, I know that there are no straight citizens of the United States that do anything wrong...but going with both of Hollywood's favorite scapegoats was a little much.
