At the Movies with Joe
I watched three movies this morning:
Speed Racer
This is a pretty movie. However, about half of the movie is insanely boring. It goes between being fun and being boring, so it's not like you can just start in the 10 scene and watch to the end. *sigh* Every scene with the kid and the monkey made me want to smack my head against a wall. But the good parts are really good. So, I don't know whether to recommend it or not. I'm glad I saw it, but I won't be watching it again...without an overwhelming amount of alcohol.
Another Cinderella Story
This has very little to do with A Cinderella Story from a few years ago, but it's not a horrible movie. Selena Gomez ended up being a surprisingly good dancer. Granted, there are only two really good dance numbers (but they're really good), and then some good stuff during the competition at the end. The singing is kind of blah. Not horrible, but I didn't feel a need to find any of the songs from the soundtrack. And even though Jane Lynch is in it, the movie is kind of crappy when it comes to the treatment of gay people...or maybe straight people that are assumed to be gay. So, not a bad movie, but not a socially responsible movie either. Not that every movie needs to be socially responsible...
Made of Honor
This is a kind of cute movie that appealed to my inner sap. Patrick Dempsey got to play a character that is pretty different from what most people see him as. Parts of it don't make a whole lot of sense, but it's a decent ride to go on.
