I watched them so you don't have to: Monster Squad and Superman/Doomsday

Monster Squad

I loved this movie like crazy when I was a kid, so I was really excited when the 20th anniversary edition came out. It's basically about a group of kids that fight versions of all of the major Universal monsters (dracula, frankenstein, wolfman, creature from the black lagoon). It was just as great as I remembered, but I didn't realize just how potty-mouthed the kids were. I sometimes forget how much they were able to get away with in the 80s. Rent it or buy it...but definitely see it. <3

Superman/Doomsday

The cartoon version of the Death of Superman storyline from the comics was really different and really watered down. I liked a lot of the voice acting, but I wasn't sold on some of the art (The lines on Superman's face were super distracting. He looked either old or sick.). It was an okay way to waste an hour. And it was definitely a decent attempt for DC's first attempt at animation.
