Catching Up

The last couple of days have been pretty "meh". Lots of broken sleep and general tiredness. Not sure if I'm fighting some kind of lurgy or just a culmination of a lack of sleep. I was pretty grumpy last night... stress, tiredness -- baby's unsettled and sprog seems to have the knack of getting underfoot.

*Sigh"* After the latest clanger from Stargate showrunners, my enthusiasm for SGA has diminished considerably. Instead of trying to make Atlantis a distinct entity, it's becoming an SG-1 clone. I won't say more... at the end of the day, it's just a tv show and probably not worth any effort ranting or raving. Methinks it may be time to bid the Stargate universe farewell...

Thursday was our anniversary. This year it was a low key event. We got some takeaways (Thai), put the kids to bed and then watched a made for tv flick called The Librarian. Not bad for a tv flick... a low budget, sometimes cheesy Indiana Jones wannabe. Noah Wyle was a surprise in that he has great comic timing. Friday afternoon we watched The Time Machine... the more recent version with Guy Pearce rather than the older Rod Taylor one. Not a bad adaptation... with a different slant to the novel but Guy Pearce, who has done better in LA Confidential and Memento, was pretty humdrum here.

I also caught up with Day of the Triffids early last week. The BBC version, I might add,  not the movie with Howard Keel in it. Overall, I thought it was pretty good... not quite what I expected. Considering the show is called The Day of the Triffids, the Triffids don't actually come into it all that much. It's sort of like BSG and Jericho without all the frills and melodrama. Definitely superior to Jericho.
