Erasure ~ Always
When I was in 9th grade, I was sitting in my best friend's new house at her birthday party, and this song was playing on TV in the background. It was a song I loved from the radio, but I never knew the name.
Years have gone by, and the tune was long forgotten, and I would go crazy trying to remember even a little bit of it. And then, all of a sudden tonight at dinner, there it was on the radio. It didn't sound exactly the same, because it probably wasn't their version, but I looked it up and found it on YouTube, and there it was by Erasure.
The sound brought the memory back so fast. It's really a sublime feeling; after years of wondering what that song was, trying uselessly to regain a scrap of memory, I happen to pay attention to what's playing at the restaurant for a few seconds and there it is. It's such a small thing, but all the same it feels like a bit of lost childhood that's come back.
