Recipes And Memories

Sep 06, 2009 22:09

I have been spending some time trying to get my recipes in order. All of those little pieces of paper with the spatters of ingredients on them that fall out of the cookbooks. The time seemed right to type them all up and print them on nice clean paper.

A tattered, grease stained recipe card fell out of one of the books. The recipe was for zucchini bread printed in my Mother's pristine way. Memories flooded my senses. She loved this time of year because it begins to get cool enough to bake...and she would bake all through the fall and winter. I can smell that zucchini bread baking. She always served it with butter. No margarine by any means! Mom never baked one loaf...more like six at a time. Each loaf was sealed tightly in foil and sent home with a loved one.

I have typed up the zucchini bread recipe to be printed on nice clean paper, but I am not giving up that tattered recipe card. Instead it will live in a special wooden box with other treasures to be passed on.

The silly things I become attached to, huh?
