On the job, I agree with the others, keep the faith and consider school. There are certain jobs that don't require more than an Associates degree and pay quite well. Even if you don't want to go to school yet, just talking to a career counselor at the local community college could open some doors and there's nothing to stop you from scalping their job board while your there.

Also you may want to check into the WIA (Work Force Investment) programs in your state. Where I live, if you have been unemployed for a while they will pay for you to go to school and they will even extend your unemployment while you complete it. Definately something to consider.

Here's some help from writers far more accomplished from me:

The Zen of Writing - Ray Bradbury

Ray Bradbury is my hero because he took a handful of change and went to a public library and on a rented typewriter and wrote a dime novel...Farenheit 451

His book on writing is by far the best I have ever read on the topic and fun to read. He does have real workable answers to all of the problems that come up in writing, for example: how to keep a novel from turning into a multi-layer mud pie (my problem), how to find out what you really want to accomplish in your story, etc. Probably the best thing that he says is that you have to write every day, just like a concert pianist has to practice every day.
