I always enjoy these posts so much, because it's interesting to finally hear everyone's voices.
Your answer about "which king" is so Lannister that it hurts. ;)
I feel the same way about Tywin. He and Joanna are the "Rebeccas" of the series and he especially is missed as a competent antagonist in the last 2 novels (Roose was for a while, but he's screwed things up at this point) - and hooray for hated character love.
Haha, well I would support Joffrey and cheer for anyone who killed him. ;) (And secretly think that the throne belongs to Tywin anyway.)
Yeah, competent antagonists are sorely needed in any canon but especially ASOIAF and absolutely, they are the Rebeccas. Their kids are the New Mrs De Winter, walking around among the great looming shadows at Casterly Rock. ;)
I'm curious how they translated the names in Swedish where they did. (Russian is pretty bad about this sort of thing, too -- I read the first two LotR books in Russian and then switched to English, and it was very strange to relearn the names, or at least get used to the very different shapes of them.)
Naturally, I love what you have to say about Tywin (especially, "and now he's dead, and he is still always there" -- definitely one of the things I love about him). (And it's good to see that Charles Dance gets him, too. :)
I might have been unreasonably annoyed with the Swedish translation (though then again perhaps not since they're translating it all over again now when the show has become popular and people want to read the series in Swedish - last time around they stopped around book three since most fantasy readers don't wait for translations) when I think it over. Normally we don't translate names of people but sometimes of places so there's that. And a whole terminology of fantasy medieval terms that just confused me. Fandom has taught me lot of words that I don't know in my own language. (Sort of like the other day when I had to speak to some English support for our self-issue machine at the library and spent half an hour trying to understand what a "relay" would be called in Swedish...)
Much praise for your accent! I loved listening to this--and loved your answers. I'm tempted to do it but I know I would never sound as good. (Might do it anyway...)
It was so lovely to hear your voice again after so many years! It felt like it was just yesterday I last heard you talk. :) And I think I still can't pronounce your name quite correctly. ;) Now some of the ASOIAF names, you wouldn't want to hear me trying to pronounce them!
Heh, some of your answers are quite different than mine would be. I waited for your most hated character, thinking "she's going to say someone I love." :P But Robert, nah. Can't say I hate him but I definitely don't like him at all. Just... meh, I couldn't care less about him? I guess he WAS boring. ;)
♥ It was just like yesterday. My name is hopeless, I don't think my parents even counted on me wanting to travel. :)
Hee, I'm just bored with a lot of the characters in general, or at least I was after the last book which is a feeling that has lingered. I love the whole war that took place before the books and find almost everything from it fascinating - except for Robert and the whole Rhaegar/Lyanna thing. :)
