Yup, it's 100 trillion % official. They're butchering one of my favorite plays in the name of theater. Some of the actors are pretty good, though I would definitely redo the casting a bit. But no amount of good acting can make up for the mis-directing (I love Charles, really, I do. But there is definitely a reason he is a professional ACTOR not a professional DIRECTOR), lack of costumes (only using accessories) and lack of props. Also, major lack of a proper stage.
As if it wasn't enough to butcher the Laramie Project, they're also butchering Amazing Grace. I'm no fabulous singer, but I'll be damned if I still can't sing better than several of those people on cast. AND THAT IS SO NOT A FUCKING DOOR!!! IT'S A GODDAMNDED WOOD PLANK. WTF?!!
I am pondering how to break it to my mother that I will only go kicking and screaming. It's bad enough sitting through rehearsals. I demand a redo! I have a feeling Zak and Trent won't be too happy either. So, to my lovely roseville friends who plan to attend, good luck and have fun.
To my lovely Avalonian friends who happen to be in the cast, please don't take offense to this. I really do love you all and it's nothing personal against you. I just know that by the time this is performed, I'll have murdered midgit-boy (unless one of you beats me to it. you have my deepest sympathies for being associated with him and having to put up with him throughout this experience.) and possibly lois. Though, after contemplation, the latter is highly unlikely. After all, compared to tart-n-tiny (as trent says) lois is an absolute doll).
Right, so, that's my input. Granted most of you have heard it already. And sadly enough, most seem to agree with me on this. Ganbatte, Robert! You will survive.
Think of it this way: It's a lot like pulling teeth. It feels weird when it starts, hurts like a bitch for a while, and then before you know it, the pain is gone and you feel better.
Sorry if this is a little to angsty for most of you, but after today's particularly painful rehearsal, I just had to let it out. Thank you for sticking through it. Now to leave you with a happy wish for this cold season that is fast approaching.
A fire in the fireplace, a warm blanket, and someone to snuggle up with.
As ever, ♥ Tal
