It seems like people are starting to come back to LJ. Only a handful of people, fair enough, but more than the "nobody" who seemed to be here a year ago.
I'm not sure whether I should crosspost to InsaneJournal and/or Dreamwidth. It's simpler not to.
I lost my domain to a squatter a few months ago. I don't really care. They can have it.
I no longer maintain a presence on Facebook. I have a profile, and I posted to it a couple of times when I got really drunk after my mom died. I also have another profile for my cat, who has been dead for at least a decade, but still likes to play a couple of mindless games once in a while.
But the concept of FB no longer interests me. I deleted everything there en masse when I found an Android app that would let me do so. Not only does FB feel like a huge violation of privacy, but I feel nothing but contempt at the idea of friendship being reduced to clicking the "like" button when the software decides that what a particular person has to say ought to show up on the ever-updating newsfeed. I reduced my "friends" there to people I have actually met in real life, and it's still more than 200 people.
Some of them clicked "like" when I posted to say that my mom was dead. Seriously? That's not a community.
I'd rather be here with the few and far between who do real reading and writing.
