graveyard shift

Some of my fondest memories involve the circus. I have always loved the mystique and magic that the circus brings, and though I am (supposedly) grown up, I still appreciate it. Of course some of the magic disappears because you understand that the animals might be mistreated or that the foreign workers don’t get paid what they should, but it still makes me excited to know that the circus is in town. It’s just a bit more of a contained excitement.

I’m working an excruciating shift that started yesterday at noon and ends at 09.00 on Monday. 45 hours. 45 hours. That’s a whole week of work plus an extra few hours. But, and it’s a big but too, I get paid extra because it’s weekend and because I work nights. The thought of the money makes me want to go that extra mile, even though it sucks to work like this.

As a bonus, I am taking my little lady to the circus tomorrow. Another thing that makes all this bearable.

In other news, I have finally watched Harry Potter. I had my two lovely friends on each side of me, and as I started sobbing grossly they grabbed my hands and leaned in against my shoulders. I cried the worst when they destroyed Hogwarts. It was awful. It was like seeing your home being ripped apart. Expect a review.

Also, I got a thick letter from the regiment F17. Instead of going to the course I was originally signed up for I am going to attend the one hosted by F17. I got all the info right away, there were more people attending that course and I want to be stationed there in the future. Easy choice, really. It’s a week later than the other course, but it’s really an improvement, because now I will be home to help my sister move on September 1st (which I believe is appreciated).

Good god, I do believe my eyes deceive me. She is already asleep. Le gasp. Maybe that’s my cue to go to bed. Or to read Generation Kill. Both works.

rambling, the road so far
