Food Post (and German Wicked)

Yesterday was the German Christmas Festival in Kitchener, Ontario. I always loved going to the German Festivals when I was younger because of the music, goodies, and best of all, FOOD!

Apple Fritters, Plum Cake, Potato Pancakes, Sausages and Sauerkraut, Pretzels, Spicy Wine, Waffles, Pulled Pork, Schnitzel on a Bun. . . YUM!

Sorry I'm so slow in replying; I had my graduate school statement of intent due today and it was HELLISH! I hate writing these application thingies.

I might still be able to get my hands on a Mate and Lukas video soon; I'll ask! I know the Dracula video with Jesper and Drew Sarich went into widespread circulation recently, but I haven't found it yet ;_; I've been really lax in trading lately. I'll get my list up-to-date. No signs of the Essen video with Uwe. I think it hasn't been ripped from DVD yet?

I totally envy you for having somebody to squee with. I'm notorious for forcing people who have never heard Elisabeth before to watch new boots with me. Some like it, at least!

Yep! I managed to get a hold of the Essen video with Jesper as death. It was WONDERFUL! Jesper makes such a fantastic Death. I love how he did something entirely unique, and didn't really base the role on anybody else.

So many people are exclusive with trading! I never understood that; sharing and discussing files is the best part :p You're one of the only people I know who isn't very exclusive.

It's from the Tanz der Vampire 10th Anniversary Concert. Pictures should be near the bottom of this page. Did you hear the soundtrack? I know you aren't too fond of TdV, but Lukas and Marjan sounded absolutely fabulous. I think Lukas is one of those guys who only sounds good live. I've never been fond of his studio stuff.

... there's an Essen DVD?!

There is definitely at least one boot floating around of Essen with Uwe, Pia and Jesper, and has been for some time, but I hadn't heard anything about a DVD! *might explode with glee* As far as I know there is a boot recording of the whole thing, and a DVD highlights thing that came out sometime around the performances which has some dress rehearsal clips or something on it. If there is a full Essen DVD however... well, I might die of squee. :D Uwe and Jesper's 10 seconds or so together on stage in the anniversary concert half killed me as it was...

I love Jesper as Death. I wish there was good quality audio of his songs - his voice is _fantastic_ and some of his notes are so pure they make me wibble. Not to mention he does something incredibly scary in the slow Schatten - goes from singing with a smile to absolutely snarling the last few words... I actually find Jesper's Death the scariest of all of them. Uwe's just seems detached, faintly amused, and Máté's is really very human, but Jesper comes across as just playing with the humans that cross his path and taking a very unpleasant satisfaction from it. I am desperately impressed that he could bring that much individuality to the role while it was still being dominated by Uwe.

I don't get the exclusive trading thing at all, but then, I've spent the last ten years (oh my god, that is the scariest thing I have ever typed) running the fanfiction, fanart and fansub circuit, whereby everyone falls over themselves to share the original material so as to generate more fan material. I'm still amazed that the musicals haven't been turned into bittorrents - I guess no-one wants to let go of their claw-hold on the trading.

Glad to hear you got your application done! Do you get to relax over Christmas now, or do you have things to work on? I am hoping to get enough dissertation stuff done by next Friday that I can go back to my family's for Christmas with a clear conscience and no textbooks... ^_^
