But-but what about Nick/Alan? =O They're like, the eternal BURNING OTP.

X-D

Mmm, Jamie/Gerald yes. That _would_ be interesting.

It does seem like an unnecessary detail, huh?
For me, I didn't do a double-take until I think about it, and realize Jamie can be seen as a Draco character that purposefully blends into the background. And Nick can be seen as DDG!Harry taken to the extreme.

Oh. My. Gawd. Nick & Jamie can be almost as dysfunctional as Nick/Alan O_O

Well, see, I can def. ship a pairing without shipping them sexually.
Like Al/Ed in Full Metal Alchemist, where Al is an EMPTY suit of armour, the options for intercourse are...uh, limited. (I primarily ship Roy/Ed though because Roy the Flame Alchemist is hot like BURNING).

Hm. Gerald, Gerald, Gerald. I approve of the name *g* I like how he's completely terrified of Nick =D Considering he knows what Nick really is, it's entirely justifiable ;-)

Jamie is the "Draco character" in that he channel's SRB's wit and humour. :)

Yes, this! =D

I may already be writing that.

Mmm, I think I'll pass on the fanfic until I'm actually moved to write one myself. And if I do write one it'll probably be gen and/or a drabble. We'll see.

I want to turn TDL Japanese cover into icons, but just read a discussion the other day about English fans stealing Japanese professional arts/fanarts and now feel a bit iffy X_x;; Darnit.

The iffiness shall pass! Eventually.

icon usage of other people's fanarts lilian_cho June 14 2009, 09:01:06 UTC
To sum up:
1) Most English fans don't bother asking for the artist's permission if s/he's Japanese. Whereas if it's someone like lizardspots, then they'll bound to ask for permission in the comments.

2) Japanese fanartists see icon usage as stealing, yes. Esp. since most English fans don't bother crediting the fanartist, much less ask for permission (language barrier, the Japanese fanartist won't notice anyway, blah blah blah)
They're probably iffy about people using icons from doujinshi too, IDK.

3) There's the whole issue of making icons out of pictures that aren't released into the public domain. Since many Japanese fanartists make it difficult for random non-fan to access their fanart (password requirement, blocking search engine, etc.), they don't consider their fanart to be in the public domain.

Comparatively, it's like mirabellawotr not minding recs on personal LJs, but explicitly asks nobody to rec her fics in newsletters ( ... )
