So in the middle of ch. 4 of The Demon's Lexicon I had a thought
(Because blamebrampton's theory made me think)
If I'm right in my guess the following is SPOILERS for the rest of the book:
1. BB theorizes that smth's fishy about Nick's abnormal qualities (not quite human teen)
2a. Nick's extremely touchy about Jamie's remark on their living together. "Because we're brothers."
2b. Nick says Alan looks like dad and he looks like mum.
3. Alan calls their mum "Olivia."
4. Olivia hates/can't stand/is scared of Nick
5. Nick's talisman always hurts. Mae's doesn't hurt her.
Q.E.D.
Alan is his father's but not Olivia's son.
Nick is Olivia's son and a demon's.
Olivia ran away from Black Arthur because he made her conceive a half-demon.
Alan and Nick = the new brothercest sandwich.
