One of the things I love about Scott is how casually smart he is.How he overthinks things, and is cautious when getting into a situation, instead of recklessly jumping into danger.
Scott: Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?
Stiles: Huh! I didn't even think about that.
Scott: And, uh, what if whoever killed the body is still out here?
Stiles: Also something I didn't think about.
Scott: It's - comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail.
How he pulls back his friends and tries to keep them from doing stupid shit, how he stops them from endangering themselves.
Derek: The moon's rising, Scott. What is it?
Scott: Risk and reward.
Derek: Which means what?
Scott: We're not measuring the risk with enough information. We don't know enough.
Derek: We know time's running out.
Scott: Yeah, but think about it. They put the triskele on your door four months ago. What have they been doing all this time? Why wait until now?
Derek: We don't have the time to figure out every little detail.
Scott: Okay, but what if this detail, the reason why they waited... what if it's the most important one?
I love how much it pisses Peter off, that Scott keeps outsmarting him.
Peter: I know you're
there, Scott, and I'm impressed. It's too bad most teenagers aren't that
smart. It's like that one on the lacrosse team - Jackson. Thinks he
knows all about us. You know how they say knowledge is power. Not in his
case.
And yet, like it or not, he still has to admit admiring Scott for it
Peter: "Scott, I admit that you have a flair for beating the odds."
How Gerard is stunned when Scott outplans him again and again.
Sure, Scott can be a bit goofy at times, but there’s just so much wisdom in what he says and does, and it’s why by s3, Derek openly admires him.
Derek:
Scott's always been
about one thing. Saving his friends. He will do anything and everything
to save the people
he cares about. When there's no chance of winning, he keeps fighting.
When all hope is lost, he finds another way. And when he's beaten down,
he stands up again. You want to earn a place in his pack? You want
redemption? Find another way to stand and fight.
Why Isaac comes to him for advice, Why most of Scott’s pack chose him as their alpha.
Deucalion: What he(Gerard) fears most...
He can't beat you.
And he knows it.
Lydia might be the genius, and Stiles might be booksmart, but Scott has a level of understanding and intuition of his own, and that’s just awesome.
