But because I'd rather be reading...

As seen on the journal of featherynscale. But I only have the first 15, because it is too long. I'll get to more later.

1. Favorite childhood book? While Judy Blume's Freckle Juice was the first ever chapter book I finished in one sitting, I was actually a Choose Your Own Adventure junkie. I collected them; there were only a few I didn't have. I gave them away to the younger sister of a friend when I was 15.

2. What are you reading right now? Ernest Pontifex by Samuel Butler is upstairs near the bed. What Survives? is downstairs, a non-fiction set of essays about life after death. Dune Messiah is in my purse to read while waiting in long lines or for Gaia to start or during an appointment. The Hobbit is being read for Family Reading. Lost Beliefs by H.R. Ellis Davidson has been neglected for a few months, but is on the brink of completion.

3. What books do you have on request at the library? Haven't done that since college. If the library doesn't have what I want, it will have thousands more that I do.

4. Bad book habit? I am a bibliophile, but I don't understand how that could be construed as bad.

5. What do you currently have checked out at the library? Girl With a Pearl Earring, but I've finished it.`And What Survives?

6. Do you have an e-reader? Nope. I like my bookshelves, and I like paper, despite the nasty effect printing books has on trees. If I ever do decide to get one, it will be because of the environmental ramifications. But I do love paper and interesting fonts and am a sucker for a good cover.

7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once? Well, I think #2 answered that, didn't it? I would get way too bored if I did it any other way.

8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog? Not my reading habits of books.

9. Least favorite book you read this year (so far?) Dead To the World by Charlaine Harris which wasn't bad, just not very good.

10. Favorite book you’ve read this year? Girl With a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier, but I've only read four and I hope that's not as good as it gets. It was good, but not great.

11. How often do you read out of your comfort zone? I'm not exactly sure what my comfort zone is. Romance novels don't make me uncomfortable, but I seldom read them. If I'm dying to read something and they are the only type around, I'll even read those.

12. What is your reading comfort zone? Well, I just said I'm not sure what that is. I'll read pretty much anything, in any genre, although I haven't found a Western I liked yet, but I'm not so closed to the fact that I won't read another one if suggested to me.

13. Can you read on the bus? When in college, I forced myself to be able to. I get nasty motion sickness, but if I tunnel my vision into my book, I can read on a bus.

14. Favorite place to read? Outside. I love reading under trees or on fallen trees in the woods or even on a picnic table at a playground.

15. What is your policy on book lending? I do not have an official policy, but I will begin nagging about after a month because I do keep tabs on them. And I only lend to people who love to read, too, so I know they will treat my books with respect.

reading for reading's sake, meme, books
