Today, after much debating, I ended up going to the day of service because i really didn't feel like sitting at home. At first it was a little sickening... at 7:30 i had to spend 45 minutes in home room watching sal whine over her stupid mini i-pod which was broken or something. The assembly was terrible, and then we had to wait another 45 minutes with K corkery for the bus to come and take us to the UCP.
When we got there we found out that we were going to be playing outside and having lunch with the day-cares, all the little kids who have cerebral palsy and a few that don't. I didn't really know what to expect but as I walked outside I started seeing some of the cutest little kids i'd ever seen in my life.
Either you walked up to them, but usually they would walk up to you and they were SO friendly, sweet, ugh i was literally melting! I made friends with this brilliant little girl, Emma, who was three and could write her name and talk about her family. sadly, she had to go inside with her class...but then i met this three year old boy named ryan and we literally became best friends.
He was this tiny, adorable blonde boy who was unbelievably articulate...i don't think he actually had cerebral palsy, but he wouldn't leave my side and i didn't want to so i came in to his classroom and we ate lunch (yar ate with us too, she was in love with these two little girls!), and ryan told me all about how all the girls in the classroom are his girlfriends...especially sophia who nodded enthusiastically when i asked her if she felt the same way. hehehe...aw man they were the coolest three year olds ever. after lunch, ryan really wanted me to read him a story but i had to leave...which was sad because i actually didn't want to at all...and he blew me kisses! aw man that did it. im going back there and volunteering, because it was so much fun and such a rewarding experience. i was literally misty-eyed at one point.
