Aaaaand more. Because I love marathons and tend to watch a bunch at once. Plus I'm bored as hell.
Episode starts with Gunn and Fred eating and trying to be extra nice to Cordelia. Fred is also pulled into the conversation now that she's finally outside her room. Then comes along Gavin from Wolfram & Hart, who is told to take a hike politely. He offers them news of health violations that the building has. Angel isnt threatened. Cordy has a vision and sends Angel off to find a special coin. While hiding in the bathroom she's shown to have been physically affected by the vision as she has gained claw marks all over her torso. Angel gets the coin and sends Cordelia home with Fred.
Gavin meets up with Lilah in the office and they exchange bitter words. Cordelia is trying to get Fred to leave her but then she gets another vision and gains boils on her face. Angel is alerted to Cordy's worsening situation. Angel follows the vision and acquires another object that fits together with the coin while Wes calls Lorne to help connect with the Powers That Be. Lorne gets zapped when Cordy gets a vision with fire and her body becomes covered in burns. We learn that the Powers That Be aren't sending the visions.
Angel visits Lilah and makes her confess she's behind the whole thing. She then extort's Angel into saving a criminal from a prison of good, promising that she would leave Cordelia alone. Angel follows the deal and reaches the prison with the artifacts he stole earlier on. He frees the criminal and performs a successful exchange. He then kills the Brain Man, who's apparently responsible for Cordy's condition and tells Lilah to never again use Cordy as a way to get to Angel. Cordy makes Angel food and Angel tells her that she shouldn't blame herself for the incident.
Darla meets with the person she's been looking for, a Shaman, and he tries to abort her baby, failing in this task. Apparently all her actions to abort the baby have been unsuccessful so far. Darla then decides to go see Angel.
- I so knew they were gonna play the card of Cordy's visions getting physical and extremely painful at some point. The strain of her visions showed too clearly on the previous episode.
- Brain Guy, who set the visions to Cordelia was rather dull. I wish they'd had something else than exposed brain. Meh.
- Gavin's way of dealing with Angel seems... uninspired. I dunno, health violations? Lindsey tried to beat Angel up with a baseball bat! Give us something else, please? Don't let this slide into something too formal.
The convict Angel frees... I bet he'll be playing a role of somesort in the future plotline.
♥ I love how Fred is introduced to the screen in this episode. I mean, the girl's hiding underneath a table giving the guys girly advice! She's really something, that one. Also the way she talks! Man, Gunn is falling in love with her. He has those admiring eyes.
♥ It's great to have Lilah back and bitchier than ever. It's even more great to have Angel interrupt her her complacent extortion talk by grabbing her from the throat. She's like startled for a minute and then gets all cocky again. She's so totally into Angel, fucking him with her eyes, or at least having foreplay.
♥ Great to see more of Gavin, since we lost Lindsey, the love of my life. Also I fan Lost, so Daniel Dae Kim has fangirling value that attracts my eyes. Seriously, who can ignore those amused faces and polite words as he's obviously scheming already? I hope he gets a tad more physical though, I loved the physicality & passion in Lindsey so now W & H is seeming cold without him. I'm hoping Gavin will fill the void somehow. I mean, not by becoming Lindsey 2 but in his own way.
♥ FRED: "Has - has anyone ever told you you're exactly like Lassie? Yeah. You're like Angel's Lassie. Sure, he does most of the saving but it's your visions that tell him that Timmy is trapped in the well, or the robbers are hiding in the barn. He really needs and depends on you." - MWAHAHAHHAHHAHA!
♥ So Angel and Cordy are getting close. He'd do anything for her. Setting up a romantic tension or just friendship? Even though I do not appreciate the Angel/Cordy ship I did find it pretty when he told her that the visions are just extra and she contributes to the team even without them. Cordy was uselessly trying to hold onto the visions, imo, so her admitting she'd rather be without them when their power became destructive was more like the Cordelia I know.
♥ Anyone notice we got our first Gunn/Fred moment? Hell, even if there are no sparks in particular we do get a "Right. Because why would I wanna walk with a cute, young woman on a beautiful night when I could be out hacking and slaying an ugly, boil-covered demon monster and getting myself killed." It's lots coming from Gunn, the adrenaline fighter junkie.
♥ Hey, Fred contributed the solution for Cordy! Yay, she's starting to get useful! And we had Lorne again! I hope he gets to be a regular soon. With Doyle gone and everyone else being human-looking, he really does liven up the place. Also I just love him and his karaoke. He was so brilliant in the Pylea arc last season.
♥ Angel and Skip conversing? Mwhahahahaha, you don't usually get that. Plus he was an interesting character.
♥ Glad they didn't water down Darla. She's someone, who'd definitely abort her baby if she only could. Plus the baby intrigues me. In any other series it'd never be born, she's just miscarry after falling down some stairs, ya noe?
Queenline: Cordy (about Fred) - "Wow. You know, next to you, I am downright linear."
Overall: Enjoyable episode. Strong presence of Wolfram and Hart is always nice. Plus Cordelia in pain is more tolerable than perky Cordelia. Also we're getting on with Darla faster than I anticipated.
