October; month 1
Well October as you can see was my first month here, I arrived in the middle of the month soI got to enjoy Thanksgiving at home in Canada :)
Not much went on in October as I was using the rest of the month to get into routine and find my way around Geneva. I started my French Lessons which are okay. I would rather not take them but unfortunately I have too. I also go to a group for aupairs that meets every second and forth thursday of the month. Its called LiNK and its in Nyon. Its a really fun thing to go to as its with a bunch of other aupairs from all over the world. The first meeting I went to was North American night. Each meeting they have something different going on so for North American night we celebrated Halloween. I met a few people but I was so overwhelmed and there was so much going on that I don't even remember some of the people I met. The last weekend in October I went with LiNK on my first weekend trip. LiNK does a lot of trips with the aupairs to experience life in Switzerland. This weekend we went to Peillonex, France. Its about a half hour from the Geneva/France border so it was nice and close. This weekend was a film weekend, they do 2 a year so for me this was the first one, we basically go to this chalet and we watch 4 movies through out the weekend and we critique them and just have a weekend away from our kids and relax. This weekend was a huge weekend for me becuase this was the weekend I made the friends I now have and adore. We had a lot of fun this weekend and it is one weekend I won't forget, we ended up watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Diary of a Mad Black Women, The Bucket List and the last oen I can't remember but it was a movie that I could not keep my eyes open for. There was lots of great food and it was alot of fun to see everyone work together and prepare meals. During the day we had breaks from the movies and we were free to do as we wanted. I went for a walk and explored with 3 other girls Stephanie, Lacey and Amanda. We walked through the the cow/horse pasture, and made our way into a field where we attempted to do a jumping picture with the timer and it was interesting to say the least. On the way bag we realized that it was October 31, and we were walking past a cemetary and we decided to go in the cemetary and it was interesting to see how different they are from in Canada and now I can say that I have been into a cemetary at night on October 31. After dinner everyone got their PJs on and we decided to bring down some extra mattresses downstairs so we werent sitting on the hard floor for 3 hours, so as we were bringing the mattresses Dinah had this brilliant idea to ride them down the stairs so I have no idea who did it first but this started the entire mattress surfing frenzy.
That was pretty much my October since I was only here for about 2.5 weeks nothing really went on just LiNK and France weekend.
