Body: Tonight really marks the end of summer. Granted, I have a few more days before classes begin, but Labor Day remains the unofficial end.
As I sat here beside the screen window listening to the cicadas and crickets outside, I started to reflect about this summer. I think I needed all of June, July, and August to recover from the busiest, craziest, most wonderful year of my life. To be honest I don't think I've recovered yet.
This time last year, my goal was to reach out more, meet new people, and step outside the warm and cozy safety zone that had insulated my freshmen year. This time last year, I had no idea how far I would come.
The people and experiences I have come across during the last twelve months have added more to my life my life than I thought possible. From "Rumors" to "Gorillas", from Key Club to swimming, from "Jesus Christ Superstar" to Georgetown, to everything else, this year has been golden. I want to thank everyone for their part in that.
And thank you for this summer. It hasn't always been easy, but I've come to appreciate it, probably a little too late this year. I didn't get to see many of the people I had hoped to, but I think that happens every summer.
So thanks for the Squan nights (even the ones I hated), the days at camp, the week at Georgetown, the nights on the boardwalk. Thanks for the success of our Alex's Lemonade Stand-we raised almost $300 for pediatric cancer patients.
And thanks for being you, all of you. Whether I see you every day, or whether I miss you terribly, you've put up with me,at some point, and sometimes that's enough.
Happy Summer.
