Well I'm back. Tired, slightly grubby, nursing a cold (and feeling exceedingly sorry for myself), but safe in the land of regular computer access. I usually love travelling, but maybe I'm getting too old to be spending all day hanging around cold, draughty stations/terminals :(
Have I learnt any valuable lessons from my two week Christmas break? Well, no - probably not. Apart from eating and drinking too much, renewing my addiction to daytime talk shows, and giving myself what I can only imagine is low-grade repetitive strain injury in my thumbs from using my mobile phone for excessive texting, checking emails and playing the *%*! addictive tetris game, I don’t think I achieved anything of particular note! Oh, maybe apart from screwing up my sleep patterns (falling asleep at about 4am waking at 10ish - hence the late night update now, bodes well for my 9am start on monday - hurruph!). Had a lovely old time though, I like Christmas and it was nice to see everyone again and have a proper holiday.
In more interesting news, the last part of A fish tale by
oasis_herself was posted. I have adored this series, but it did make me think about long-fics. There are, of course, countless short fics that I've loved, but I am especially impressed by 3 long fics in particular. To be fair, as they are long I've only read these 3 so far, but will probably look out for others now. They are not just examples of lovely writing and spot-on characterisation, but this high standard is maintained throughout. I wish I could write to this standard - yep, I'm impressed and jealous! :) I'm also recommending, et voila...
