So that was Christmas...

As John Lennon almost said. Another festive season, and year, over and I can honestly say it was a good one. I survived, and thoroughly enjoyed, Christmas - it was nice to be home (and I still have a couple of days left to tart around before having to brave The Journey Back - too long and usually annoying to not merit capitals). Lovely family Christmas; obligatory family argument on Boxing day; making up again over sales shopping; seeing old friends; realising that even though I only see old friends once a year now, they’re still quality friends; trying to text/phone/email new friends but being thwarted by weather/lack of computer access/phone unreliability, but still being able to laugh about it together (albeit after a fairly long delay!); going to the cinema; driving through thunder and lightning; getting and giving pressies; drinking cocktails. Ahhhh…

I have also discovered that I can update lj via my mobile phone (but apparently only when the planets are properly aligned, the requisite number of virgins have made sacrifices to the moon goddess and the wind is blowing from the east) hence only being able to post one word thus far (and thereby explaining my rather terse ‘test’ message below).

As for resolutions:

Well obviously last year’s still stand - namely eat more apples and marry into aristocracy, plus the ubiquitous boring every year ones, but in addition for this year…

1. Take up a hobby. I want to do something in 2007 that’s just for me. Something I want to do rather than need to do (or have been shamed/bribed/bullied into doing).
2. See more movies, preferably at cinema but I’m not too proud to slum it with the DVDs.
3. Avoid spoilers. I was quite good last year, but the fact I have a short attention span and weak resolve should probably be factored in here.
4. Write more. Get better. Actually in a lj vein I should make more of an effort to leave comments and feedback. Do unto others etc etc…
5. Read more. Its about time I tackled my ‘things I haven’t read yet’ shelf before it takes on mythical qualities.
6. Be more spontaneous. Yes, I am well aware that planning to be spontaneous may be a little bit of a contradiction in terms, but I could maybe do without agonising over the pros and cons of every little decision. Stop thinking about everything so much, go out, live a little.

Happy new year!

PS One more day until This Life +10 - my little JackDav fangirl heart is all of a flutter...

ramblings, real-life
