Poking about through YouTube finds some nifty Nanoha A's clips.
For instance here is
why you don't mess with Fate chan. Heh, don't mess with the reformed villains, they're right tricky girls.
Poor Vita, she figures that being a mere Midchilda style mage rather than a bratty punk goth Velka mage knight Nanoha won't be able direct a strong attack and simultaniously defend herself from attack. Heh. Poor Vita,
you shouldn't mess with the heroine of the series either.
Fate encounters her biggest rival. Poor fate, out cooled on the first fight.
Poor girl,
it seems Vita knows the enemy seeking spell trick too.
One of the nifty things about the Nanoha universe is that it has an explanation for why people don't (usually) notice the magic combat going on around town. Barriers. When one mage plans to attack another they can erect a barrier around the combat zone, effectively shifting the combatants out of sync with the rest of the universe. So long as the barrier remains up your enemy has only a limited space in which to hide or flee, and allies outside the barrier can't enter. And the general populace? They might spot the bare beginning of the fight, but once the barrier is up the fight is effectively in a parallel universe. Of course barriers can be battered down, and if you are the heroine you might
batter down the barrier with a massively powerful attack even while the enemy shoves an arm through your chest (from several rooftops away) in an attempt to steal your power. Of course the tail end of that blast ought to have attracted quite a bit of attention (then again if people can explain away a plant suddenly enveloping several square blocks of Tokyo, explaining away a flash of light is nothing).
Oh, and the bit of dialog that I said I liked? Here's a longish (six minute) clip of the first battle between Nanoha and Vita. Man, what a brat Vita's all, "How dare you! You made me lose my hat and all I ever did was try and kill you!" Vita should read more Girl Genius, then she would know any plan where you lose your hat is a bad plan.
Vita almost defeats Nanoha in their first fight. And yes, Vita's technomagic staff does use magic bullets. It is technomagic after all.
