late 80's alt. music
i've seen quite a bit of de-lurking lately and thought i'd do a little here. some people are posting on the blogs they read and others are letting out little bits about themselves. i'll do a bit of both, just for fun!
about me & music: i love the alternative bands from the 80's, my first album was blondie paralel lines (bought when i was about 7) and i still have it. i have way too many albums by the cure and the smiths - my 2 original faves from when i first got into music. i love dinosaur jr but they can make me sad, i love the pixies and saw them when i was maybe 14! i used to go to city gardens alot, maybe every week to see anyone that played. if there was an all ages show i was there. i've been slimed by gwar at midnite, read racey poetry by henry rollins and dreamily danced to gene loves jezebel, all at city gardens! tonite i was browsing myspace and came across the city gardens group, i didn't join but it made me long for those days when it was so very important to be at all those shows, new wave, ska, hardcore, straight edge, what ever, i loved it all and it is a big part of who i am.
art & misc. culture: i actually read the andy warhol diary, it was long and read over a few years here and there but, i finished it.
when i was 15 i saw an anslem keifer exhibit and knew then i had to be an artist, seeing his show made the art world make sense to me. there wasn't much art to be exposed to where i grew up, so being in girl scouts really made a difference in my life. our troup did quite a bit of crafting which i loved!
i was always bored in art history classes in college so i took art criticism and the art of cinema to fill those credits. i love movies. my high school had a class called photo science and it counted as a regular science class. i took it twice! i have very good photo skills, i'm working on my digital skills! i find museums overwhelming but enjoy galleries. i don't get out to see art very often but wish i did, i also wish i'd go dancing in the city at cool clubs but don't. i am more likely to know who a fashion designer is than a famous potter. my work is influenced by nature and design.
love and yoga: i love animals and get very upset when others don't. yoga means union and i think that is beautiful. i feel that all beings should work towards a union, union and peace are twisted together in my mind.
now that i work from home i work everyday and love it.
