London MCM Expo (May '11) and some art

Jun 01, 2011 17:05

So it was that time of year again! =D
MCM London!

This year I made my way down to London with loopstagirlt, and let me tell you, we had a ball of a time!
It was her first time going to the expo, and I'm hoping I did it justice by going along with her =)

This is the two of us outside ExCel just before we left (absolutely KNACKERED!!)

We got there earlier than I usually do this year, partly cos we were prepared, but mostly because the trains were running properly this time >.>
For the last two years I've had to navigate my way around Ilford to get the replacement bus to Stratford to get the DLR (which isn't running half the time either...)
Funny events on the train had us getting on the wrong DLR at Poplar and having to get off again to switch to the right one at Canning Town.
Little discovery: it's always best to get on the train last. Good reason for this. You end up getting off first!
This happened to us and we ended up getting into the queue for tickets well before anyone else on the same train as us. We ended up queuing for probably over half an hour less!
We got to ExCel at 9:45 and were in the first line of people going for the regular entry!
We were in at opening time! =D

My lovely little Mango got some attention in the queue.

Don't we all love those fans who all gather together, are extremely hyper (not that I'm one to talk lol), dance along to Caramelldansen, and are around 14 years old. No? Well, they always make me laugh =P
In this case, I had a group of around 5 of them gathering around my bag, petting Mango while we were queuing.
Yes, they made me jump out of my skin when they first appeared. But they did make me smile.
If any of those girls are reading this, I thank you for making my queuing experience more enjoyable.

Also, does anyone know what the person cosplaying in what looked like a giant potato actually know what they were dressed as?
Both us and the people behind us couldn't work out just what it was XD

Now, I always thought that my fangirling was pretty bad. And yes, we did spend a hell of a lot of time going around the manga and anime stalls looking at the things that I like. But Oh. My. God.I love my friends. I really, really do. Especially when they get more excited than I do.
Seriously, I have never been dragged to a stall before.
Loopstagirl, you truly are the best!
For those who haven't stalked her various different pages before, she is a Thunderbirds and a Merlin fangirl.
The first time she got excited was when she found the entirity of the old TB series on DVD (understandable =p)
The second time however, was the best bit of fangirling I have seen in a long time.
I didn't really see myself being dragged to a stall selling Merlin t-shirts at the start of the day, but it happened. And I'm so glad it did. It actually made my day XD

Right! Merchandise time!
I'm more than happy with my spoils for the day ^-^

Firstly, I bought the official England keyring from Hetalia last year, and I'm sorry to say that he was loved a little too much and the colour faded on his face. (He had a grey stripe across his nose) =(
Soooo~

New ones! I also bought America (which was sold out last year...) and Japan (because they were 3 for £10)! =D
Another Hetalia product, something which I saw in the bucket loads but just couldn't ignore =p

Boss Spain and Chibi Romano ^-^
This is all ready to put up in my new house when I move in in July!

However, my favourite find of the day has got to be this. It's something else that was being sold on almost every stall, but they were just too cute to ignore! That, and I can never come away from these events without a new plushie in hand =p

Seriously, he's just adorable!
My brother decided that he had to be called 'Humbug' (because he's the same colours as those mints), but because he's a pig, he's ended up being called 'Hambug' instead (lolz~)

I realised at the end of Saturday that I was carrying around a mini Farmyard with me... what with a sheep in my bag and a pig...
But, well, if you're not cosplaying or carrying around something relatively odd at these kind of events then you're the abnormal ones!
I was simply fitting in with the crowd XD

So yes, it was a very, very good day (despite collapsing of exhaustion when I got home ^^;;).

Thank you MCM for another fabulous time!
See you all in October hopefully =D

Done for the before and after meme.
I did this because I wanted to get back into drawing properly again, but I have actually wanted to redraw that image for a while because it's my favourite of all my old pieces.

Title: Summer Showers
Author/Artist: lilflow
Character(s): America, England
Rating: G

Yeah, so this was originally meant to be called "April Showers" because that's when I drew it. But, as we all know, life's a bitch and I couldn't finish it until now.
I've wanted to draw a rainy scene for a while, and here it is! =D
Much love for these two.

Sorry for the really long update everyone ^^;;
Thanks for putting up with me once again
