This weekend even though it felt more like early winter than early spring, Hubby and I turned our attention to our square-foot garden. I had heard it was time to put in the cold weather crops: lettuce, spinach, carrots. On Saturday, it rained and rained and rained and was very cold to this Florida girl.
We put on rain gear and looked at the garden anyway. We apparently had already planted lettuce, spinach and carrots because they were all coming up! I planted a few new seeds to flesh out the squares. Also, while clearing around the strawberry plant, we discovered worms! Yay! Worms are garden's good guys and since we didn't introduce them, it means the soil in our SFG is really good because they came to it on their own.
Our strawberry plant has taken over 3 or 4 squares: NAUGHTY NAUGHTY berry! I'll probably dig up the extra plants and give them to the boys. It's already flowering. Can't wait for homegrown berries :)
We scooped up three or four worms and relocated them to the compost pile. I hope they will all be very happy there.
I've got today off to take care of some stuff that you can only do during M-F, 8-5 hours.
