This is night 3 without good sleep. I slept on the couch last night so as not to wake Hubby with my sniffling, snorting, gurgling and other just-trying-to-breathe noises. Also to watch one of my sleepytime movies (it was "Evil Under the Sun" this time, thanks again Chase!). Even a serene cozy English mystery couldn't counteract that much post-nasal drip.
Tonight, I'm throwing in the Kleenex and taking some damned Nyquil. It makes me jittery after night 2 or 3 on the stuff, but maybe, just maybe, I'll get some good sleep tonight.
While Hubby's busy refiguring his semester to teach "The Bible As Literature" (stop laughing! He knows his Bible!! Really!), I may go to the Local Quilt Store and see if I can poke around and make some charity quilts.
Work's been busy beyond comprehension for me. I'm not allowed to work over my usual 8 hours a day, so I'm running as fast as I can to learn how to do scheduling, book rooms for the Spring semester, and watching faculty pick out office space in our new building (all this with a head cold and 2 new faculty members to orient, both of whom area actually lovely people, but still have questions about how our U works). Our Grad Assistant was helping me list who's moving where and asked, "what's your office number?" I said, "Just write 'Big Glass Fishbowl.' " Because so help me, that's what it is!
And I finished my first pair of Magic Loop socks. They look really cute. Separately. Together, you can see that they're not the same size! And I've spotted some laddering. And a dropped stitch. I'm tempted to just make them into Christmas ornaments and call it done. Damnit. Here's hoping the next pair I make will actually fit me without any foot binding involved.
And, any of you also watching "Top Chef"? Hubby and I are loving it. And then we delight in reading Anthony Bourdain's blog entries about the carnage the next day. I was sad to Uni-Ball go, but his cooking did him in on that Airplane! challenge.
