Somehow I didn't realize (or just forgot) that I could link images onto my LJ.
I feel more comfortable blabbing about the chapter on here. No big spoilers though, I promise.
The next chapter is going to follow Jet. In fact, the first few pages won't even include Lil, but you'll find out why he's going to be in her room in them.
I have a good deal of the chapter written out and a rough sketch of the first page. Although I've already decided not to use color, I'm having issues with deciding whether to sketch it on paper or digitally. I already started both, but keep getting frustrated/distracted after a few minutes of work.
Let me break down some good and bad points of each method
Traditional Sketch
Good stuff
*I can take it with me (work on it at a coffee shop)
*I seem to get more done when I stop and work on paper
*I enjoy traditional sketching more
Bad stuff
*I miss mistakes which are easier for me to catch and fix on the computer
*I'm usually too excited about jumping from pencil to inking to take the proper time making corrections
*Have to measure and use a ruler for lines (which are extensive on the next couple of pages)
Digital Sketch
Good stuff
*I almost always have fewer mistakes and better quality
*I catch and edit more mistakes before posting
*It's easier and faster to use perspective lines and get my backgrounds lined up properly
*Drawing straight lines is faster and easier when I don't need a ruler
Bad stuff
*I get distracted from working faster (cause there's so much stuff to do online...)
*I Get bored with 'inking' digitally far too quickly
*I don't have a cool original draft to keep
So, I already scanned my rough layout for the page and am working on inking (at a slug snail's pace), but I get distracted from it way too easily. I'm still working on the first panel and may have to redo the lines I created because I didn't bother actually finding a perspective point and following it. Basically, I suck and waste too much time.
I WANT to work digitally, for the quality gained in correcting my work, but I guess I just need to get into the habit so I'll stop making dumb mistakes, wasting time, and procrastinating. Bleh.
