And so started a weekend of celebration:
mensia planned a whole day for me, with last-minute edits to accomodate [girly TMI]. We wandered the aisles of my favorite crafty store and found a perfect gift for
annstheman, who was born a whole 1462 days before me, as well as a birthday girl crown for tomorrow. Then we started out at the
Scharffenberger factory tour... OMG, the scent of chocolate that permeates that place is to DIE for. Prepped with a heavy dose of
NSAID, warmed with hot cocoa, and liberally coated -- on the
INSIDE! -- with quality chocolate, I forgot all about my cramps.
We had a leisurely
lunch and talked of cabbages & kings, before deciding against a late afternoon
outing and picking up
personalized cupcakes to enjoy at her house. Post-chocolate and cuddles, she went to pick up her little boy [pics to come; Tribe is sitting on its ass!], and I hopped on a train to join
annstheman & Co. at a backyard barbecue.
But first I took a nap. :)
THEN I stuffed myself with a fabulous hamburger, chatted with her buds, and sang the song while she blew out the candles. Unfortunately, Brilliant Roomie had forgotten to put the mud pie in the FREEZER. It had been sitting in the fridge all afternoon! So we had "birthday sauce" -- which was DELICIOUS, like cold chocolate-flavored melty marshmallow fluff -- and chunks of the Oreo crust. And nobody minded, because it was a very nice party.
More to come later -- I have lots of people and lots of plans this weekend. Oh, and LOTS of cake!!!
