oh take me dancing.... at the drag show.
last night i went out to weho to meet my friend mani and some of his buddies for a welcome home thing. mani has been on tour in europe (figure skating with disney on ice) for almost a year. for not knowing any of his friends, i think i did alright. we had a lot of fun, hopping from fiesta to the abbey to mickey's. and i ran into some acquaintances while we were at mickey's. i'm actually warming up to that place in all its trashiness. they had a fantastic drag show last night (and what is it with drag queens and a tendency for having roman noses and strong jawlines?). one of the performers was a dead ringer for tina turner, and her body mannerisms were dead on. it was amazing. she did "proud mary" and "what's love got to do with it." the host, this queen called raven, was incredible too. she opened the show as goldfrapp (with a spot on wig and costume) and did "ride a white horse," and even more impressive was her performance later as rihanna, doing "umbrella" with an identical costume and wig....it was really great. i fucking love drag queens.
and i did remarkably well at work today considering how late i was out.
