yesterday was one of the worst days i've had at work in a long time. granted i haven't really "worked" in a long time, but that's besides the point. i got a phone call around 8am yesterday from a guy asking about his tile samples and if they had been approved yet or not. i had no recollection of receive said tile. i searched the mall and found 8 large boxes all addressed to me in a mall storage area. no one ever informed me of these boxes though and apparently they had been there for the past three weeks. i asked my superintendent to help me move them from this area to our little office on the other side of the mall. once in our office, i proceeded to unpack every box, inspect and stamp each piece of tile, and then repack each box. did i mention that each of these boxes were 50 pounds a piece? that means i had to pick up 50 pounds of tile, unfurl it on the floor (they were rolled up in tons of bubble wrap), stamp them, roll them back up, and pick of the 50 pounds of tile yet again to put it back in the box. meanwhile, my superintendent was sitting at his desk playing spider solitaire. he actually laughed a couple of times. i told him that i would remember this and when he was having to do something hard i would do the same. then the conversation went on like this:
"I'm about to do the hardest part of my job." - superintendent
"Oh? Go outside and smoke?" - me
"No, walk all the way across the office to get a cup of water." - superintendent
he then steps over what i'm doing to get to the water cooler which is literally 15 feet away from his desk.
two hours later when i finish all of this nonsense i pick up an empty box and some of the leftover bubble wrap and proceed to walk towards the dumpster. he seriously had the audacity to ask if i needed help with that. i said "no, i'll get the rest later." then when i had turned around from throwing that stuff away there he was with an armful of bubble wrap. worthless!
on a happier note, my new pensacola friends called me up last night to go to dinner and a movie. dinner ran long, though, so we decided to play bingo instead and get this...i won! i was so excited! i've been playing bingo once in awhile for the past two years now and i finally won. it definitely made up for the earlier part of my day.
