(no subject)
our database is down (Well sort of...i swear it was down for hours then came back but works at tortoise speed) so i can't do any work. I was looking at home studio kits to occupy my time but they only left me depressed as even if i can afford one i have no space to set it up. the i looked at medium format cameras, i don't know why i don't even know how to use one but i did anyway and they left me depressed because i have the space for them but i don't have the money. i kept reading pages of descriptions on how "mi don't know how it works, my father gave it to me"s and thought "you lazy fuck!"
so i thought hey i'll write here. but all my thoughts got flushed when i deleted the paragraph i was writing before this one.
there are so many new albums coming out this month on top of the ones that came out last month. i listened to a few through various blogs and the only one that i am very ver excited about is the BYOP one. As well as tunes of spoilt brat party material that more or less dominated their first album this one has some surf rock stuff. Surf rock!!! I love it. I can't stop listening to Becky and feel guilty cos I love it but i know i'd never be able to sing it next to my sis.
The other one I am looking forward to is the Mystery Jets purely because of one song called Girl Next Door which is called something else on the album. It's the most amazing piece of pop I heard in years. Anyway I can't find that on any blog as apparently the record company is deleting them all. If anyone has it send it to me. I don't even know if their album is out this month. I hope so.
I'm not gonna write much about Nick Cave cos that's an amazing album anyway if not a bit too samey (I find) of any other Bad Seeds stuff.
The one that I am looking forward is the Portishead's Third. That one is very amazing too. It's not any different from the previous two so when I listened to it I felt 16 again and kinda wanted to end my life haha. The first track is such a tease, it starts instrumental then after a while Beth starts singing. I can just imagine this being the opener of the April gigs.
I also heard the new Long Blondes album and I can say, with the exception of few tracks which sound like any other track on the first album, it's weak. The problem I find is the inability to write anything without making you feel you've just finished listening to the same sort, that and the variations of the same blondie chords. this is not to say it's all shit but it is disappointing. I shan't be buying it unless i find it for 4 quid in Marketplace.
One album I like which is not a masterpiece but good fun is the Teenagers' Reality Check. Not sure when it is coming out but I recommend it.
Finally the new Kills one is out this week. It is dancey you knowand was produced by whatsitarmaniexchangethingy. maybe that's why it sounds more like a polished disco ball then rough leather boots. fun but shallow.
