Hi there!
I'm so sorry I'm rubbish at posting lately - it's just what with so much work to do I never think of anything to say.
I've been working at the Beach Hotel and also assisting at a couple of local theatres to get experience of working backstage - which I have really enjoyed.
The last show I did was "Jesus Christ Superstar" - which went very well.
In the summer I helped with a Youth production of "Billy Elliot" - that was a dream come true.
Many years ago I wrote a rather poor poem about it, so I decided to do another one - which I hope is a bit better. This is it.
Free As A Bird.
(Inspired by Billy Elliot - the Musical)
Dear Billy, I saw your story
- I watched it through the pain
I see you looking puzzled
- I should probably explain.
It reaches out and moves me
Reminds me and confides in me
- Removes the hurt inside of me
And lets me live again.
You take me back in time
- To when the world was young
To Christmasses and birthdays
- And beaches in the sun.
To excitement, anticipation,
Friendship, infatuation
- A simple sense of longing
And a simple sense of fun.
There's a darkness in childhood
- A fear that slowly creeps
A creature full of loneliness
- That watches while you sleep.
It feeds on your self-esteem
It sucks up your fantasies
- Leaves you lost and insecure
Drowning in the deep.
But there's a place inside of us
- A spirit, a soul, a heart
That responds to empathy
- A power in the dark.
A touch of inspiration
That feeling of elation
- All we need is that connection
When someone lights the spark.
So I join you in your journey
- I hang on every word
I feel anger at the injustice
- I laugh at the absurd.
And strange as it seems
We follow our dreams
- We both reach our own redemption
And we both fly free as a bird.
