In which I babble about food and movies

I've been quiet around here lately. Sorry about that. Things are good, but I'm afraid I don't have much to say. Hmm . . . let's see . . . I drank carrot juice today. I'm not sure sure it was a good financial investment. It tastes exactly how you'd think. I'm trying to figure out what I should add to make it more palatable. I made my first green smoothie this morning, too, and it was surprisingly good. Here's the recipe I made up:

Blend together:
1/2 cup frozen spinach
3 large strawberries
1 banana
5 cubes frozen mango
1/2 cup orange juice

Tomorrow I will likely use frozen pineapple instead of the mango just to experiment. The smoothie is the most unappetizing color I've ever seen come out of my blender, but I really liked it. It didn't taste like spinach at all. I highly recommend the experiment to others.

I've been craving chocolate like crazy lately. On Friday and Saturday nights, I whipped up this chocolate-cake-in-a-mug recipe. It was pretty good -- nothing earth-shattering, but much better than I thought microwaved cake would be. I added more vanilla and some cinnamon the second time and thought it was much improved. Last night, I made no-bake cookies (more or less this recipe), and damned if some thief didn't eat nearly all of them! Oh wait, that may have been me. Oops!

We took advantage of the snowy Saturday by staying inside. My migraine really peaked on Friday and Saturday, so this was no sacrifice for me. After a late-morning nap, I joined lbangs in watching two of our Netflix. His was Chung King Express, and mine was The Magdalene Sisters. Both were excellent, and the second one in particular has stuck with me since I saw it. The DVD included the documentary Sex in a Cold Climate, which inspired the film.

And that's really all I have. Sorry. I'll try to think of something more interesting soon.
