Okay, Jasper Fforde, who writes books that I consider giant crossovers between various books/fandoms... came out against fanfic.

Now, I prefer not to have the ship be unrequited, but if it is, I'd prefer it not be one of the girls. It's a thing I have. Also, the relationship doesn't have to be the focus, it just has to be there. You can go fluffy or angsty, joyous or dark... or go mirror!verse and have it be a strange combination thereof. Nothing squicks me in fanfic, so go wild.
If you have the urge to write tentacle, mind-fucking, gender-bending, sex-pollen, aliens-made-them-do-it, non-con, dub-con, warnings out the wazoo fic, but don't want people to think you just came up with that shit on your own... tell 'em I requested it. I can be your scape-goat, because I just want fic/graphics/favids/fanart/whatever, and I don't squick easy.
