For those Star Trek fans on my list:
Vulcans and Romulans are, genetically speaking, extremely similar (though not totally identical). So how is it that Vulcans and humans cannot have naturally produced/born viable offspring, yet Romulans and humans apparently can? Or are we to believe that the Romulan General was so head over heels for Natasha Yar that he went out of his way to engineer a child?

Or is it just that a naturally produced/born human/Vulcan hybrid is improbably, not impossible?

Side note, while writing this, I managed to make a typo that read as if I were claiming to be a Romulan. I find this amusing.
