The Principle

from time to time
you wait and wonder
for our moment to come
that chance of fate
for us to take in
or be taken in
by many of whom
we deem so high

many times in life
we lose that chance
fate knocks us over
only to laugh at us
for those of us
who remain rejected and weak
who remain silent and lost
we have only gained
the greatest of all
our sense of individuality

many times in life
we gain that chance
fate hands to us
the glory we sought
for those of us
who remain strong and accepted
who remain proud and found
we have only lost
the greatest of all
who we were to start with

here it is now
handed before us
that opportunity
to take in ourselves
or be taken in by others
to take our fate
or to let others take it
we must remember
that two worlds exist
the accepted and
the rejected

so as i go
i remind you this
and beg you please
don't seek society's glory
in only hopes to lose your own
don't seek others
in only hopes to gain
for in the end
you will have nothing
nothing but yourself.

for all those you have
take them now
or sooner or later
they'll be pushed away
not from society
but from the love
that society has placed in us
we'll push the good
and take in the evil

the accepted are only
taken within its kind
the rejected are only
taken within its kind
but those rare moments
the principle ones
do the accepted and
the rejected finally
take each other in
