So, long time no update, eh?
The Bulletin never got back to me. So much for my columning endeavors. Aw well, I'll still keep on writing, because that's what I do anyway. I could probably start by updating this one more often, so that's what I'll do. I'm in English now, which means my literary references and metaphors will be uped by about a thousand. I was actually at a photo-writing conference the other day. I made a Scarlet Letter reference, then linked it to Velma Kelly and Donna Reed. Only I didn't call her Donna Reed. I called her Donna White... oops. I was thinking white picket fences. It's almost the same thing?
I've also been having a Gilmore marathon lately, also another reason for the want for references. Or as Chase likes to say, allusions. I have to up my vocabulary as well, cause the SATs are underway, and I've gotta get into Brown, so I can go to Providence and study biology and become a science writer, and of course, be with Alex.
Recent words I've been using a lot include efficacy and machinations. Efficacy is one Danielle didn't know, and machinations was my blunder. Haha, I love the word blunder. I wonder if the SATs will ever boggle our minds with the wondrous word that is blunder.
Or superfluous. Ashley says that one's her favourite.
In the meantime, aside from standardized testing, college scouting, and missing my writing mode, I've been bogged down with lots of chemistry and make-up work for calc that I still have to do. This year (along with last year... oh, how I miss V-Max's biology (as Nate and Jotham are now calling her)!!!), I am understanding how much I really do love everything that Cochrane taught us. Thank you, wherever you are.
And in all my free time, when I'm not doing something unextroadinary or working, I'm spending time with my boy Alex, and heaven knows that we don't get enough of it! It's interesting, because despite the fact that we see eachother nearly everyday, we don't really get time to see eachother. Last night I finally got to spend time with my overly fantastic boy, and I can't tell you just how very much I have missed his company!!! Everything was splendid, and I want to go back and admire, once again, how very long, yet indeed so short, ten minutes is.
I also need to bone up on my music intake. Aside from the fact that I've been listening to every possible genre lately (including country, R&B, and even a smidgen of rap on top of my normal '80s and soft-rock/alternative tune-in), I want to get more CDs, and make some compilations for busrides and study halls when Alex might be sick. I got this awesome pink CD player for Christmas, and I've hardly had the time to use it.
I also got a nifty music-making program for the computer I need to start using to, which means I either need to pick something karaoke to sing along with, or learn to play an instrument far better than I can at this point in time.
Aside from that, nothing's been happening. Waldron was amazed that I knew what a Gong Show was, and it made me happy, because I can use that as an allusion at some point in time.
