SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo
lots and lots going on.
maybe that's the reason for my lack of entries...
Friday, June 30th Kev, me and his parents took off for the U.P. at 2:33. Got up there, stayed at the best western. Bright and Early the next day we suited up and ambitiously began our adventure. We backpacked 25+ miles with 25+ pounds on our backs along the Pictured Rocks backcountry trail. We left from Miner's Castle and set up camp (10 miles along) at Chapel for the night. Woke up the next morning with quite a staggering stride, but did it because we had to. We walked about 9 miles that day and found ourselves 5 1/2 hours later at Trappers Lake campground. Exhausted, we set up camp, hung our food up on the bear poles, filtered many nalgene bottles of water, at some dinner and went to sleep. The next morning we got up super early to ensure that we did not miss our ride back from Twelvemile Beach. We hiked for about 7 miles and made it to Twelvemile by noon. Our van was not supposed to come until 3:00 so we had plenty of time to spend uselessly waiting. Well, much to my surprise, we successfully finished our trip and I could not be prouder. That night we stayed at the AmericInn hotel in Munising, went to Pamida to buy a ridiculous bathing suit, and rested up for the long day of driving ahead of us. We got home Tuesday evening and went through pictures and such with the family. I met my duck, Ayla, (My dad had a baby duck walk right up to him and her face and wing had been eaten off by most likely a raccoon. We kept her with us because she would not have made it all alone, without a beak outside. She was happy and adorable, but the next day at 2, she was lying on her side...she died)
Wednesday July 5th, me and Kev decided to take off after only being home for about 14 hours. We went up to the lake house in Glen Arbor. Good times, good times. We went down to traverse for cherry festival, went riding with stevie, hit up Cherry Republic for a 6-pack of Dr. Cherry (which we drank super fast). Meg and Adam came up Friday night we went out on the boat and it died because of a bad mistake on gas, had to get towed back by a mouthy 11 year old. Nevertheless, it was a fun experience. Kev and I left Saturday after going back to traverse to shop around a bit. We got back here late saturday night. Because I had a JC meeting Sunday!!!
JC Meeting. Awesome. I love seeing my lovely JCs. They make me so happy. I can't wait to spend another amazing week with them at camp. I wait all year for this one week. Oh and I was supposed to be Neon Red... but Hi! That's not even a color!! but luckily for me, unfortunately for Dan and Kels, there were some changes and I got switched to Neon Orange. I am sooo pumped. I get to work with Mike Walker aka "Mullet Mike." I am unbelievably excited to be at camp in 11 days!!
I will post Pictures when I have time, because the pics of the Pictured Rocks are awesome!!
