The Devil is alive in Fairfax
HA! Just like on MTV's Highschool pranks, scandals and Controversies, my lame ass, overcrowded highschool is finally getting some attention.
WHS won a contest from virgin mobile, or nextel, one of those! For the band Taking Back Sunday to perform at our school on tuesday Nov. 16. Of course the lame ass superattendant said no and cancelled it because it's not "educational."
A senior, Eric, arranged for the day the band was supposed to play to be "Taking Back Tuesday" A bunch of kids were planning to skip the whole day as a protest. Well of course the principal interferred. As a result a lot of people ended up showing up to school. Poor Eric gets a suspension day for every person that skipped unexcused.
A genius idea, he called into DC101's Elliot in the Morning. He told Elliot about the whole situation, and elliot, HATING Fairfax County Public school(due to an incident a couple years ago when he arranged to go to prom with an 18yro. senior at Marshall HS as another radio promotional thing , but was forbidden from attending), said he's coming to Westfield to aid in our protest. It's awsome cause it shows that little things like contests really mean something to us. For fuck sake! We're in HIGHSCHOOL! We're still kids.
On Top of everything! FCPS has also banned Pep Rallies from taking place anymore. THIS is probably the HUGEST bullshit i've heard. They say they're not "educational." Well good luck step team and dance team, and the drum line. Now you don't have your own school as an audience. Unless we all drop everything to go to competitions on weekends. NOT!
Because of the recent events, Samira and I have decided to write a 1000 word essay describing the feelings of ourselves along with other Fcps students. We are not sending it to the Superattendant, no.... We're going to submit it to the Washington Post so this part of the Metro area is not the only place hearing about the contention fcps has caused. And my dad the lawyer will help us with the legal aspects of it.
