I really need to come up with a workable plan to get my schoolwork done.
Truth be told, there isn't a lot of it (Hooray for only 10 academic hours!), but it does need to get done. And that involves getting started, which seems to be the hard part. I can't seem to make myself to anything that isn't due very soon. But I know that that tactic is not going to fly with these papers, especially the Poli Sci one. It just isn't.
This is what I have:
- Honors Seminar Paper on Kurosawa's film music (~10 pages) - Due Nov. 19
- Poli Sci Seminar Paper on Ford and the '74 elections (~25 pages) - Due Nov. 29
- Independent Study Paper on dualism in Yoga (~10 pages) - Due at end of semester?
- Various yet-to-be-assigned papers for English - Due as assigned
The Ford paper is the obvious big one, as it will require a lot of research. And I know Dr. Hall is quite picky about papers, as I was unable to get anything more than an 84% on his papers last spring, even when I went to talk to him. This paper is worth 45% of our final grade, so slacking off is simply not an option. And I think I have pushed the slacking about as far as it will go comfortably. Both of my other papers (not English) are for Dr. Getz, so I really do want to do a good job. He's a fairly easy grader, but that doesn't mean he deserves half-assed work.
My Dad did very wisely point out that if I snap to it and get all this done quickly, I'll have literally no academic responsibilities for the rest of the semester and can slack off guilt-free. My Dad...always thinking.
I think if I get started with the research (for Poli Sci especially) this week, and begin writing/outlining this weekend and from there do an hour or two a day each on at least two of the three papers, I'll be in really super good shape. That is the ideal. And really not too bad when you think about it.
I have managed to while away yet another day, but I have no class tomorrow until 7 and I am GOING to get some work done, come hell or high water.
