Mom had her partial knee replacement this morning. She's in the hospital currently, drugged up and determined that they'll stop giving her drugs tomorrow. Since they were able to only do a partial the tendons around her knee weren't cut. This should speed up the recovery process, though I still doubt her ability to go back to watching the two year old in the beginning of January. I'm still planning on visiting sometime at the end of January, with or without Justin. Tickets to FL for Christmas Eve to the day after Christmas would have cost around $600. If Justin goes with me, we'll drive down with the dogs. If I go alone, I'll fly.
Will put in his two week notice at work. It seems like the immature move of a 19 year old since he doesn't have another job lined up yet. He was so desperate to get a job before and now has no plan for money after his last day, this Saturday, is up. Carla is fed up with being a massage therapist/working at our current place of employment. She has been casually looking for a new job since she got her bachelor's degree two years ago and has recently put the search into overdrive. The new, weekly retail meetings at 7:00AM for people not surpassing their goal for retail has been the cherry on top. She's never been the best at retail and it is the one part of our job that management gets all huffed up about.
Our Black Friday TV from Amazon gets delivered tomorrow afternoon. It's a 43" Samsung plasma flat screen with 3D capabilities. It normally retails for $700 and we got it for $500 and free shipping. I went out at midnight on Black Friday to Target, Kohl's, Walgreen's, and the Oxmoor Center. The line at Target was from the door to the street past the building. I grabbed a $14 hand mixer, Inception, an HMDI cable (I assume I'll need it), and wrapping paper (that I later returned). The check out line was long, but moved quickly. At Kohl's there were some great deals, but it was taking people 45 minutes to get to a register. At Sear's I snagged two pairs of boots, one for work and one for fun, that were at door buster prices. I also gave in to a blue light special and am now the owner of a knife set that is guaranteed to never go dull. It also came with a garnishing kit so I can make watermelon fruit baskets and spiral fries (Is my fake enthusiasm apparent in writing?). At Walgreen's, I picked up another of the rectangular dog bed that the boys love. This year,I definitely didn't last that long. Starting as midnight instead of sleeping and getting up at 4:00AM was too much for me. Justin had work at 4:00AM and despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to stay out long enough to meet him for "lunch" at 8:30. I can't wait for our TV to get here so I can be fully surrounded by my Black Friday triumphs.
