So, the first month of summer is already gone. How did this happen?! I guess it was the whirlwind of trips I've taken. Mark drove down to San Diego to pick me up after school ended (aw) and we spent a few days lounging around my apartment and eating out every meal. Then we went home for a night and drove up to Davis the next morning, where we spent another few days relaxing. I came home for a day then left for Seattle to go on an Alaskan cruise with my family and cousins. Even though I usually dread cruises, this one was definitely not as bad since Stephanie and I had company. We still spent a ridiculous amount of time in our cabins watching Law & Order though.
I started work back at Zazzle the day after I got home from Alaska. Talk about busy! On my second day of work, I decided to leave a little earlier in the morning so I could fill up the gas tank before work. Ho ho ho...turns out I managed to wreck the car badly enough the previous day that it's pretty much totalled. Mark drove me to and from work for the rest of that week. My parents and I went to the Honda dealership on the 2nd of July and I got a new car- a white 2008 Accord. I love it! But now my mother is carless and we are pretty much forcing her to learn how to drive my old but lovable '88 Acura Integra. On top of that, Mark is teaching her! I feel bad for the both of them:(
Sooo for the past three weeks, my life has pretty much consisted of waking up at 7am, going to work, getting home around 5:30, watching TV at Mark's then falling asleep at 11pm. It's a sad life, I know. What's worse is that the two days where I actually have the freedom of staying out later- Fridays and Saturdays- I still manage to fall asleep wherever I am, at 11pm. But I can't wait to get my paycheck! I managed to spend probably around half a grand since summer started (lots on gas, unfortunately) and I need to make it back up! Not to mention pay off my credit card, since the bill for that is ridiculously high at the moment.
There are a couple of things I'm really looking forward to.
1) Mark and I are going to the Boys Like Girls/Good Charlotte/Metro Station/The Maine concert this Friday in Berkeley, and I'm hoping we'll grab dinner at this cute Italian restaurant near his sister's apartment, because they have the best spaghetti I have ever had in my entire life. No joke.
2) We're also going to the John Mayer/Colbie Callait concert in a couple of weeks. YAY!
3) Our one year is on the 30th of this month, so hopefully we'll do something exciting.
Then August is my last month in NorCal, because I'll be heading back down to San Diego at the beginning of September to move in my things before my Anthropology trip starts on the 4th. I'll be in Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize for two weeks! I come back right as welcome week starts, and then I get to enjoy the splendor that is 8am classes every single day of the week, for the entire quarter. Sigh. But then again, since I'm getting up at 7am everyday now, it shouldn't be tooooooo bad, right? Let's hope so.
Anyhow, I'm just rambling on and on because I realized that I haven't updated this thing in a couple of months. That must be a record for me. Oh, and I seem to have a lot of free time on my hands right now since my boss is away from his desk. I want to do something productive, but I'm not sure what that entails! I'm starting to speak more professionally in person because I'm around my boss so much. He can give presentations over an hour long and you wouldn't realize how much time has passed.
Now I'm cold (they like to keep the AC set at 71) and hungry (even though I've been snacking since I arrived this morning) and sad because our office has an ant infestation and they're trying to eat at my Kashi bars. Stay away!! Or fear the wrath that is my finger.
