Nice little bonus package I got delivered to my desk this morning. Seems the boys were all happy that their little problem was taken care of. A squad went out to take out the Typhoon Mary of the demon set and we're all well and good for a change. Go team me ( Read more... )

Hmm, another week, another apocalypse averted. Yawn. I finally got an eyeful of the Slayer during the melee, and I have to say I wouldn't mind having occasion to get to know her better. Ah well, back to work. I shall have to choke down my bitter disappointment that the Senior Partners are all alive and well, leaving no opportunities for advancement as of yet.

I'm pushing paper around my desk, actually ready for a break, when lovely Lilah taps on my door.

"Well," I say, raising an eyebrow. "To what do I owe the honor?"

I nodded as I came into the office.

"How did you fare with the forced sit in?"

When you did diddly squat and I did all the work.

"Have a case and need a partner, if you were interested. The pay out isn't that shabby and it seems interesting."

I walked around my desk and perched on the edge of it, smiling at her. "I conducted business as usual," I told her. "Billable hours are billable hours." That's not one hundred percent the truth, actually, but I was never a Boy Scout, after all.

"A new case? Do tell."

I plopped the folder in his hand and smiled as I sat on one of the expensive leather chairs.

"Seems they want to make the government pay."

I began to flip through the folder. "That's always a noble pursuit... sticking it to the government. I'm in."

Plus, the chance to work with her? An added incentive, to be sure.

I smirked wondering when he'd realize that the firm was actually the one in the wrong doing here. Of course it wasn't above me to have someone else pay for said wrongdoing.

"I rather like the part of the children's deaths being because of a conspiracy plot against the underprivileged."

Standing up to point out the minor details to him, I made sure he got a good look at the goods.

"Seems our boy wandered into the slums. Let's get Ma and Pa Poverty out of them and then we can have their souls for breakfast."

"Breakfast of champions, yes?" I chuckled, only half-paying attention. It's always fun to find out what color undergarments one's co-workers favor. Black. Somehow, I'm not surprised.

I raised my eyes from her neckline, holding her gaze, smiling. "I believe we can build quite a case here," I said. Whether legal or otherwise, I left undefined.

That's what makes it fun.

"Something like that."

Yep, the man is straight. Offered a straight shot of the tits and he went for it. Perhaps some after work playing will be involved.

"Have you meet Kennedy yet?"

Always nice to know what the others think of the some of the fools that the firm has in their employee.

"Kennedy? Dark hair, attitude, snogging the blonde? I haven't met her," I say. "But I make it my business to know about the other players here."

She's interested. I can always tell. I wonder what she'd be like underneath that power suit and superiority complex. Perhaps I'll find out one of these days.

"You would like her. Perky. Oh wait, gay."

I smirked at him and returned to my chair.

"She'd eat you for breakfast. Little thing seems to think I'm hot though."
