My horses decided to stage the great escape. Actually not all of them my big gelding Cash, Aramis the Morgan and Diesel who shall forever more be known as jerk.
The one I was most impressed with was Cash. See way back he was really bad - he would have run me over as soon as let me handle him. I've been working with him and last year I had him broke to ride.
Well when I went out the other two escapees took off. Cash looked at me and lumbered up with a 'Hey mommy' expression on his gorgeous dopey face. He just earned his forgiveness for his escape attempt. So I tossed a rope around his neck (and this is a 18'2 hh 2100lb percheron gelding) and tugged and he followed me placidly out into the field. This from a horse that tried to run us over last year. :) Awesome boy.
Then Diesel - him I caught with a little subterfuge. But once I had him he wouldn't lead. So my daughter came up behind him and yelled and beat his ass with her stick. He finally moved and we got him out.
Aramis we decided not to bother to catch - so we ran him down into the hay yard, then out the gate.
Then I had another hour of fixing the fence they pushed down.
