x_men100 because the challenge phrase was "biting the bullet" and I like the etymology for this phrase. It features Wolverine.
“No!” yelled the soldier on the bloodsoaked stretcher.
The surgeon glared sternly into his face until the soldier lay quiet.
“Son, that leg has to come off or it will take you with it. Bite the bullet and this will be over soon.”
He held the soft lead bullet close to the man’s lips, but the soldier’s eyes unglazed and he began to fight again.
“Leave me alone! It’ll heal!”
The surgeon sighed.
“Leave him, then. We’ve got too many others to waste time on a fool. He’ll be dead tomorrow.”
By the morning, Logan was on the run again.
Also, I came to this
