Lockdown looms

Well, it looks as if we are headed for another lockdown here in the UK, at least after Christmas if not before!   I'm hoping that the booster innoculations will help but things do not look good right now.  All my Christmas plans have been altered because one niece has been very poorly with Covid (two jabs and a booster) and now her son is down with it as well.  So my sister and I are going to hide away in her flat for two days and not see anyone else, except to shout at from a distance.

On the brighter side,  my first book in The Cousins of Pemberley series, "Cassandra" is now available as a paperback from Amazon under the name of Linda O'Byrne!  I know a lot of people don't like e books and so are waiting to order a "proper" book!  I do hope you like it. Let me know, either way!

I am learning an enormous amount about the new ways of publishing as I progress with other titles in the series. The paperbacks are POD,  print on demand, which is what happens to most authors, unless you are a genuine best seller.  It makes a lot of sense - you only print a book if someone orders it.  At least that way there are no remainders!!

To be honest, book publishing is incredibly tiring, when you are writing a series.  Not that I am complaining at all, but am doing publicity for No.1, second editing No.2, "Catherine"  incorporating agent's comments into No.3 "Miriam" and making massive amounts of notes for No.4. "Jane".  It focuses your attention on your faults.  Mine is time.  I get sad little comments from my agent like "Are you sure this happens in June?   It was March only a chapter ago."

I was also rather forced into agreeing into directing my drama group's next production in May - the girl who was going to do so had to attend a wedding out in South Africa.  Well, that was the plan, but having agreed and got the play and cast organised, the rehearsal schedule and started blocking it in my mind,  the wedding has been delayed for six months and so she could have done it after all!

On the gardening front, all the bulbs are planted, leaves composted and a lot of winter pruning done.

I hope everyone well and I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a healthy New Year!
