In these strange hiatus days between Christmas and New Year, I always seem to have time to spare. I have been splurging on Belinda Bauer books.
I love her work - she writes the most original thrillers I have read for a very long time. Rubbernecker is weirdly wonderful with a triple twist at the end that I wasn't expecting. I have just finished The Facts of Life and Death which I found horrific because of the ten year old heroine, Ruby Trick, and the whole basic idea behind the story.
But all Bauer's work are well-written, immaculately plotted and leave you with just a few untied ends in the way that real life does.
I am spending New Year's Eve on my own - but not quite because I am re-reading and do not want to be disturbed whilst I agonise with Elinor and Marianne.
