Interesting week last week...
Three "quizzes" on Thursday and Friday...though one of the quizzes could have been categorized more correctly as a 'test,' and another of the quizzes should have been called an 'exam.' Ah well...needless to say, stress was abundant through the end of the day on Friday. The good news about that, though is that I totally rocked all three of them. WOOOO!!!

The really truly sucky thing about last week, though, was the combination of allergies and a sinus infection...and the fact that I was only able to see a doctor about it today (though I have the help of some friendly antibiotics because of that, now). Yucky...didn't make for a fun week, nor the greatest weekend ever (though the weekend was much better than the week). Yeah, I wasn't the most approachable person/did not have much of a sense of humor this week. Sorry to all who witnessed that. Susan, again, I am so so sorry for being kind of terse and not talkative this week...I just felt hugely gross :-(

Today while I was getting my prescription filled, I ran over to Chester County Book and Music Company and finally picked up a copy of The Manual of Woody Landscape Plants by Michael Dirr. I have been stealing...erm...borrowing Mom's copy (the second edition) up until now...the current edition (5th) is TWICE as long as the second edition. Yikes...but yay for awesome books!

I saw two AMAZING films this weekend, also...Good Night, and Good Luck and Everything is Illuminated. AMAZING. Two must see films in my humble opinion. The first, for those of you who don't know, is about Edward R. Murrow who was the news anchor who took on McCarthy and HUAC in the 1950's. What an amazing man...for the risk he took, his integrity, his intelligence...it goes on and on. Susan and I also found out (a couple of weeks ago) that he was a Quaker (cool!).
Everything is Illuminated is about a Jew who goes to Odessa in search of his grandfather's past (the grandfather lived through WWII). It is a quirky, quiet, funny in places, serious and thoughtful film about the ties we have to our families, other people and the past. Beautifully done...really, just rent it and see for yourself (I'm going to find the book now and read it).

There really isn't too much else, I suppose...except for having one really awesome housemate (another PG) and one...umm...not so great housemate (an intern who is leaving soon), and the fact that I really need to start seeds but I don't have everything that I need right now. Oh! Yeah! That's another good thing! Lewis (Barnard) gave Mom a bunch of Jerusalem Artichokes to pass along to me for my garden! Wooo!
So the final score is as follows:
The good:
Tom: 4
Michael Dirr: 1
Great housemates: 1
Lewis Barnard: 1
The bad:
Quizzes: 0
Sinus infection: 1
Not so great housemates: 1
That is, good things: 7, bad things: 2
We all win! Yay!
